In addition to brief lessons for beginners at our regular dances, Shoreline Swing sponsors class series and occasional workshops with both local and national instructors.

When attending a class or workshop, please arrive 15 minutes early to give yourself enough time to check in and get ready so that the classes can begin on time.

Beginner to Intermediate Balboa

2:00-3:00 pm Ad libs (Pure Balboa): Pure Balboa is characterized by a very close upper body connection with your partner, and efficient, smooth, rhythmic footwork, often fast and with fancy syncopations. In its original pure form, the dancers would never break away from each other and would rarely even move off the spot on the floor where they started the dance.
3:15-4:15 pm Transition step/Cross overs: Building on your Come Arounds, Lollies and Toss Outs. Start to swivel and have fun with steps that actually are what the name says!
4:30-5:30 pm Putting it all together/slides/tricks: This is where it starts to get fancy!
